Manon Viallard
France. Waterwoman : Wakeboarder/ Freshwater fisherwoman.
My name is Manon. I am 26 years old, and I am one of the few women in this discipline. Even though I do not come from a family of fishermen, fishing has always been part of my life. I started very young, with just my little line and the river that flowed at the foot of my house. I learned everything on the job, by practicing and thanks to the little tips here and there, given by more experienced fishermen.
Water is truly my element. Outside of fishing, I am a wakeboard and waterski instructor. It is a seasonal job that allows me to travel all over France and discover incredible fishing spots. Each place is a new adventure, each river or lake has its own secrets, and I like to immerse myself fully in it, both in my job and in my passion.
My little pleasure after work? Getting out the fishing rod and teasing the perch and pike that I observe all day long from the banks. Nothing beats this moment of calm where the adrenaline rises with each bite, especially after a busy day on the water. And since I am always on the move, having a float tube in the trunk of the car allows me to spice up my fishing sessions. It gives me the freedom to venture out on the water without the hassle of a boat, while staying close to nature.
Whether it's to catch a record fish or simply to enjoy the calm of the water, each outing is an opportunity to test new techniques. And even if this passion is still not very common among women, I am proud to be part of this world and to show that we also have our place on rivers and lakes.
